Westwinds Baptist Church is committed to the work of evangelizing the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe it is the duty of every Christian and every church to support those whom God calls to labor in that endeavor.
We invite you to use the menu options below to examine our missions program and to get to know the men and women who are laboring in the harvest field for the Lord.
If you are an individual who is seeking financial support for the purpose of spreading the Gospel, please read the Support Policy below and then submit a completed Missions Questionnaire for our evaluation. No meeting or visit will be scheduled until we have received and evaluated the questionnaire.
Support Policy Statement
It is not the intention or desire of Westwinds Baptist Church to either hinder the progress of
the Lord's work or to unduly burden those laboring for the Master. However, we would be
remiss if we did not acknowledge the past abuses and dishonesty by some individuals in the
ministry and the potential for similar incidents in the future. Thus, we established certain
polices and guidelines to provide accountability for those receiving support and assurance
to those providing support. Through these polices, it is our goal and prayer that the work of
the Lord will achieve maximum fruitfulness and glory while avoiding any reason that the
name and cause of Christ should be dishonored and the generosity of God's people abused.
We will not consider taking on a missionary, mission's work, or any parachurch or
peripheral church ministry that does not agree and commit to the following policies as they
apply to their work.
- All supported individuals or entities must be in full agreement with the Statement of Faith of
this church.
- A church planting missionary must agree to bring the church or churches they have started,
or will start, to a fully autonomous state as soon as is practically and feasibly possible. A
fully autonomous church means it is self-governing, self-supporting, and self-propagating.
- A church planter who intends or later decides to remain with the work they started must
agree to inform the church of their intention and to cessation of their financial support upon
the ministry's ability to replace the monetary support provided by Westwinds Baptist
Church.
- Any individual or entity that changes their mission or ministry to something other than that
which was presented for support consideration must agree to inform this church of the
change and be subject to evaluation for continued support.
- Any individual that intends on co-laboring with missionaries or individuals in the same
mission or ministry work must declare that intention when presenting their work. If they
decide to be co-laborers after presenting their work, then they have changed their mission
and/or ministry and are subject to the stipulations of item four (4).
- Individuals seeking financial support from this church must agree that the monetary support
they raise will be used solely for the purpose of providing personal living needs, airfare cost,
and shipping expense. That means that they shall not use their support for paying for the
expense (rent, notes, bills, etc.) of the work they are involved in.
- All individuals seeking the support of this church must commit to avoiding extended or mini
furloughs before the work is finished and shall endeavor to be absent from the work for no
more than one (1) month per year. Emergency furlough needs will be evaluated and given
special consideration on an individual basis.
- Those individuals who are supported by this church shall inform us in advance of the time,
purpose, and duration of all furloughs. If advance notice is not possible, the individual must
communicate their furlough situation with this church at the earliest possible time.
- All individuals and entities who receive support must agree to allow representatives of this
church to visit and evaluate their ministries, works, and churches.
- Westwinds Baptist Church reserves the right to terminate support to those individuals or
entities that violate the aforementioned policies.
